Alex Kovic


Alex is a clinician and scholar of clinical psychology. He has worked largely in the provision of psychological services in community mental health clinics. Currently, he is a Fellow at the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. At their clinic he specializes in working with LGBT patients. He is finishing his doctoral program where his research addresses mental health disparities in the LGBT community. To enhance his skill set in providing services, Alex views this program as an opportunity to gain knowledge of integrated healthcare, gain knowledge of the marginalized members of the LGBT community, and, gain knowledge in advocacy and the provision of more systemic interventions


Alex is focusing risk and resilience in the LGBT community. Specifically he is interested in the use of psychological protective factors in the facilitation of well-being and prevention of mental health disorders in gay and bisexual men. He is also interested in conducting a meta analysis of research using Meyer's minority stress model with LGBT individuals.
