LGBT Health Policy & Practice Spring Reception - A Success!

LGBTHP&P Alumni at the spring reception

We at LGBTHP&P would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate 5 years of supporting scholarships for program students at our Spring Reception at Whitman Walker Health on the 20th! We would like to thank our honorary co-chairs:

  • The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Leader
  • The Honorable Mark Takano, U.S. House of Representatives, California
  • The Honorable Philip R. Sharp, PhD, U.S. House of Representatives (Ret.)
  • Walter Dellinger, Esq., Partner, O’Melveny & Myers
  • Dr. Jeffrey Akman, Dean, School of Medicine & Health Sciences
  • Sheila Alexander-Reid, Director of LGBTQ Affairs, Mayor’s Office, District of Columbia

As we announced at the reception, board member Quin Shott has made an incredibly generous gift to LGBTHP&P in the form of a dollar-for-dollar match of donations to the scholarship fund up to $25,000. We want to meet that challenge by May 1, 2017, the cut-off date for scholarships this program year. Our special thanks go to Josh Riley, Don Blanchon and Naseema Shafi at Whitman Walker, our wonderful staff and student volunteers who kept the food and drink flowing, and of course our alumni and students, current and incoming, who came out to represent.
