Emily Vellano

Emily has always had a passion for serving the underserved and issues of social justice.  Her affinity for the patient-centered, interdisciplinary setting of integrated behavioral health brought her to Clinica Family Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Colorado, where she trains Behavioral Health Providers to conduct behavioral health integration, oversees program development, and continues to provide patient care.

For her Capstone Project, Emily plans to develop a series of trainings promoting LGBT inclusion and sensitivity at all levels of the organization to ensure that LGBT patients receive appropriate preventive, medical, dental and behavioral health care.  Emily has a specific interest in increasing awareness about LGBT issues in the Latino community, which makes up a large portion of Clinica patients and staff.  Emily also plans to collaborate with the local Primary Care Association to implement trainings for other FQHC’s in Colorado through conferences, access to online training materials, and shared webinars.
